Funny that even after almost 22 years, I’m still happy to rub my husband’s head with a serum every night to help with hair growth or simply to give him a nice scalp massage. Don’t get me wrong, many times I wish I could squeeze him in the compost bin and leave the bin and him out on the streets, but most days he makes me laugh and I love the fact that he embraces my crazy ideas and is always willing to go along.
When I proposed to him that I wanted to start adopting and sharing the principles of Young Living, he was quite skeptical. But as I started changing our habits and incorporating supplements while eliminating toxins, he embraced it full heartedly and now drinks his 2 tablespoons of camel milk every day even if he says it tastes like sand (which it truly does not hahaha). Now camel milk has nothing to do with Young Living per se, but as we change our health habits to better more educated choices, things like camel milk make their way to our homes. 🙂
After only three months of having adopted Young Living into our lives, he thinks of oils before going for ibuprofen when an ailment hits. Soon, I think I’ll have him take detox baths, but one thing at a time. My teenagers are a bit harder to crack, but I think that as they see the benefits, they will also be pulled towards adopting this new natural healthy lifestyle.
So, at the end of the day, I rub his head with serum to help his scalp but also to thank him for wanting to embark on this journey with me!
For the serum recipe, see my Recipes page. I think many men will be quite glad to have their spouse or partner spend time rubbing their heads at night!
There are some oils and blends that smell wonderful, there are some that leave you a bit indifferent and then there are some that you just connect with on so many levels.
Abundance is a blend that truly resonates with me, that enhances my senses, that balances me, calms my mind and makes me feel like I can accomplish anything I put my mind to. It also brings a kind of joy and peace while creating a vibrant energy around me. It is hard to explain really 🙂 and as much as it resonates with me, it may not be as powerful to you, but I would say it is a blend not to miss. It is certainly one that everyone should try if only to add to a chakra roller or to feel its true power of synergy in the diffuser
I believe that by diffusing this blend or by using it topically, you are inviting prosperity and plenitude in your life. We all work hard towards our goals of health & wealth in all sense of the word, but as with everything else, why not accept a little help from our oily friends.
Write a comment to tell me how you are working to achieve your goals and you will be entered to win a free Chakra roller from me!!! I may even give two away 🙂
On my Day 22 video, I was talking about my skincare routine (and my fourth as last essential oil used in my face serum) and I know many friends of mine are asking me what products I use, how I use them and when I use them. So, here it is in a nutshell.
Cleanse my face with Stone Crop Gel from Eminence
– will be switching to ART gentle cleanser from Young Living shortly
Use about half a dropper of my DIY face serum (see recipes page)
Use eye cream serum from Eminence
– in the process of finding an alternative
Once a week, I use a mild mask. Last Sunday, I tried a DIY from Brigitte’s Facebook group (The Glow Co. Lounge) which I will add to my recipes page. It was FANTASTIC!!!
Use light moisturizer with SPF or powder which contains SPF
– in the process of finding an alternative here as well
Quick and easy, right? No more 12-step program and my skin has never looked or felt better!
Rest assured that I will update you as I find new products or concoctions (which I much rather make as a DIY as you know 🙂 )
Soon after my introduction to Young Living at the end of November 2018, I decided to make my own serum. The reason for this was two-fold; let me explain.
In 2018, while working from home, I was also working part-time in a Spa that sold Eminence products; organic products from Hungary that I had been using for many years and that I quite enjoyed. But, these products were expensive (even with my discount) and I seemed to be buying more and more to obtain the same results (see my bathroom countertop below from March 2018… and I had more products sitting on my shower shelf!).
I wanted to find a way of reducing all these products to the bare minimum, not just in a cost-saving manner, but also as a way to get back to the essentials. I told myself that if I ate well and kept my body happy and healthy, my skin did not need all these products.
I did, however, want to find a way to help my skin obtain all the nutrients and benefits from naturally occurring oils and compounds so I researched and asked my oily tribe members for advice. And this is how I came up with my face serum that I call Flight, for it elevates my skin and mood to a healthier level every time I use it :). My Flight recipe has been added to the Recipes page and you are more than welcome to try it. There are many recipes for face serum out there. Try different ones and see how you feel. I can certainly attest to the fact that once you find the one that suits your skin the best, you will be able to forego all those other expensive products that clutter your counters.
Not only am I saving money on products, but I am saving my skin from long term effects of non-naturally occurring compounds. My skin feels better, my bank account is much happier AND the aroma from my face serum gives me added benefits that stay with me all day and all night long!
Every year, I treat myself to flowers. My husband is wonderful in many different ways, but flowers are not really his thing and his being color blind doesn’t help either! So, every year, I find myself a wonderful florist and order a custom-made bouquet. For the last 2-3 years, I have been going to see Elaine from Le Petit Bouquet. The flower shop used to reside within the Blanc & Turquoise store on Innes road, but it has relocated in Elaine’s home in Blackburn Hamlet. Elaine has recently joined our tribe of oilers and I am so glad she did! Not only do I consider her an amazing florist and fellow oiler, but I also consider her a friend.
And what I have learned this year is to put 2-3 drops of Purification essential oil blend to the water. This will extend the life of those fresh cut flowers while deodorizing the air in your home.
After starting my Facebook Group a few weeks back for my ‘tribe’ of oilers :), I decided to also blog about my wellness journey with Young Living and share with you what it has given me.
My biggest enterprise at the moment is a book I’ve been wanting to write since the moment we came back from a year abroad in 2014. But a mere three months after our return, my father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and for the following two months, all my efforts were to care for him to the fullest of my capabilities. After he passed away on December 26th, 2014, my employment became unstable and I feel I am just now, four years down the road, truly climbing out of my deep hole.
There have been bad moments, but also very good moments in the past few years and I hope to share some of these with you as I complete writing my book. I shall also share my love for Young Living oils and supply you with recipes for DIYs of all kinds. Most of these will be completely free of charge, but there may be a couple of online classes and webinars that will be offered at a low cost for those who would like to learn what I have to offer in more detail.
Wishing you all the very best! Stay warm and take good care 🙂
